Se denomina babaero a la chapa metálica que protege la impermeabilización del encuentro de la cubierta con el paramento vertical. Normalmente es de acero galvanizado o zinc.

La normativa española no regula la existencia o las características de esta pieza. En cambio, el DB HS-1 del Código Técnico sí indica cuáles deben ser los solapes con el paramento vertical (>= 25 cm) y sobre las tejas (>= 10 cm).
