Llamamos vierteaguas al resguardo de piedra, piezas cerámicas o cualquier otro material que, formando una superficie inclinada para escurrir el agua de lluvia (el CTE DB HS-1 establece que con 10º al menos, aunque personalmente me parece excesiva) se dispone cubriendo el alfeizar de la ventana a modo de albardilla en la coronación de los muros.

Sobre la construcción de esta pieza, el CTE establece también que disponga de un goterón separado, al menos, 2 cm del paramento exterior de la fachada.

El material a emplear queda a gusto del arquitecto, pero si no es impermeable, la misma norma indica que se debe disponer una lámina impermeabilizante debajo del vierteaguas.

Con el mismo objeto de evitar la filtración del agua, el esquema que presenta el DB indica la introducción de los bordes laterales 2 cm dentro de la jamba de la ventana y el sellado del encuentro de la carpintería con las jambas. La norma no indica un solape mínimo de la ventana sobre el vierteaguas, aunque el dibujo explicativo que la ilustra lo dibuja. En cualquier caso, dicho solape y el posterior sellado son dos reglas de buena construcción, y más aún, si no ha dispuesto la lámina impermeabilizante debajo del vierteaguas.

The material is a matter of taste for the architect, but the same regulations stipulate that, if the material of which the sill is made is not waterproof, a waterproof film must be placed under the sill.

With the same objective of preventing water ingress, the DBs show a scheme indicating the insertion of the side edges two centimetres inside the window jambs and the sealing of the window meeting the jambs. The standard does not indicate a minimum overlap of the window over the window sill, although the explanatory drawing illustrating it shows it. In any case, this overlapping and subsequent sealing are two rules of good construction, especially if the waterproofing membrane is not laid under the window sill.
