Meeting of a tile skirt with the wall
Cuando el otro día publicaba la última entrada del de este blog dedicada el significado del término babero e incluía un detalle en el que desarrollaba el esquema que presenta en Código Técnico de la Edificación (CTE DB HS-1), me recordaba un compañero que no siempre los detalles que presentan las normas son adecuados. Es cierto. En este sentido, tenemos que recordar que, a diferencia de las antiguas Normas Tecnológicas, el actual CTE no propone detalles constructivos precisos y definidos. En aquella ocasión, el detalle desarrollaba más o menos literalmente la propuesta del Código (figura de abajo a la derecha) conforme al sistema de fijación propuesto en la NTE (figura de abajo a la izquierda).
When the other day I published the last post of this blog dedicated to the meaning of the term counterflashing and included a detail in which I developed the scheme presented in the Technical Building Code (CTE DB HS-1), a colleague reminded me that the details presented in the standards are not always adequate. It is true. In this regard, it should be remembered that, unlike the old Technological Standards, the current CTE does not propose precise and defined construction details. On that occasion, the detail developed more or less literally the proposal of the Code (figure on the right) according to the fixing system proposed in the NTE (figure bottom left).
La fijación del babero en la pared realizando una roza en la que se empotra tiene el problema de que es casi inevitable que el retacado de mortero de la roza termine fisurándose configurándose como un punto de entrada de agua. La alternativa puede ser la fijación mecánica con el posterior sellado del borde superior. Y ese es el detalle que se muestra a continuación.
Fixing the counterflashing to the wall by making a groove into which it is embedded has the problem that it is almost inevitable that the mortar filling of the groove will eventually crack and become a point of water ingress. The alternative may be mechanical fixing with subsequent sealing of the top edge. And that is the detail shown below.
